Lifeguard Certification Classes offered at Hudson Park Estates
HPE will be offering a Red Cross Initial Lifeguard Certification class to those seeking their initial lifeguard certification and a Red Cross Re-Certification class to those seeking re-certification. The in-water portion of both of the classes will take place at the Hudson Park Estates Pool, 2600 Blue Heron Dr. Hudson, Ohio 44236.
Red Cross Life Guard Certification Class:
All out-of-water training will be completed through the online course prior to attending the in-water days scheduled below (approximately 7 hours). The online portion of the class must be completed before trainees will be permitted to begin their in-water training. A pre-test will be administered at the beginning of the first day of in-water training.
Fees for Initial Certification:
Hudson Park Estates Resident who is a Hudson Park Estates Lifeguard: $50 plus a commitment to work a minimum of 100 hours at the Hudson Park Estates Pool
Hudson Park Estates Resident who will lifeguard at another facility: $100
Non-Hudson Park Estates Residents: $150

Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Prerequisites: Minimum age: 15 years. (must bring ID to first day of class)
PRE-TEST (will be conducted the first day of class): Swim 300 yards continuously; Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds by starting in the water, swimming 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, exit the water without using steps or a ladder. Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for 2 years.
